Do You perceive My Concrete Fine Art as Heavy?

Two of the most frequent questions I receive are: “How heavy are those concrete art pieces?” and “How do you make them stay in vertical surfaces?” Well, as you can imagine, their surprise is evident when people actually see the art pieces in person and feel the weight for themselves. It’s much lighter than they thought!

Concrete is perceived as being heavy because concrete slabs are the biggest and heaviest anchor of foundations for any structure, be it a home or a commercial building. Or maybe it’s because we perceive concrete to be as heavy as a large bronze sculpture, for instance. Whatever the case may be, when my concrete work is done in slabs of ½ inch to 3 inches in thickness, the weight becomes a non-issue. Surprise, surprise! Coupled with the fact that my work is, for the most part, anchored with bolts on any vertical surface and further sealed with different methods to ensure a good tight bond, it is then an ideal solution for an original art piece either indoors or outdoors. Each piece is fine art and has my personal branding.

I have been exploring this “brain child” of mine for some years now, perfecting techniques and exploring all chemical possibilities for acid stain coloring application and texture. At my home, I have explored many “teetering on the edge” creations with this media, creating some intrigue for visitors, getting some interest by the media and ultimately resulting in some televised segments, one of them being a syndicated show on HGTV, “Manland,” which first aired in 2009. I’ve been blessed.

Outside, in the real world, all of my completed projects have yielded very satisfied clients. The question that I am pondering now, is … what else am I missing in my concrete art pieces? What would prompt someone to want to own an original art piece that is virtually indestructible and maintenance free? Would different themes, subjects, or abstract variations make it more appealing? Perhaps more daring color applications? Mmmm… I am open to ideas.
I would appreciate some feedback from those of you who have stumbled onto my blog! There is nothing better than an unbiased opinion. Of course I am also interested in art buyers! As a consumer or art collector, if you would like to visit my gallery of work in person, by all means contact me and we’ll arrange that. Wine, beer and/or margaritas provided to make your experience more memorable. For me, it’s all about the pleasant experience in getting from point A to point Z in an art project, done in a professional and timely manner, and sometimes as a team player with other contractors. Thanks to all of you for your support! OK, it’s time to go back and pour some more slabs…

Love the art detail in front of the BBQ, ouside balcony, in the yard, never mind. Love them all, thank you for sharing.

"I saw some of your work (blog/fine art) this morning. ¡Que impresionante! Wonderful work Lamberto...I'm truly in awe. I was in Dallas last week, but it was a quick trip so I didn't message you. Hope to get together soon amigo!"
